All Day Service at Bethel Church Ends Day with Basket Dinner
The Bethel neighborhood held an all day Methodist service last Sunday with a noon basket dinner. Prof. Sweetland preached at 1 pm, Sunday school followed at 2:10, a temperance address by Dr. Griffin, communion at 3:30 led by Rev. Pratt, and a lively testimony service. Many attended from Barton and Jasper counties.

Death of an Old Settler in Barton County
Go R Frakes an old settler dies at his home eleven miles north and west of the city Tuesday night at 1 o'clock He would have been 87 in November He leaves a wife two sons J W and Elder Frakes both at home and a granddaughter Mize Minnie Seafler The funeral was held yesterday at Walters graveyard Rev T E Pratt conducted the services Frakes was born in Virginia lived in Illinois before moving to Barton county in 1872 and died on his farm after a long life of respectability His death was due to old age.

Rev Jones to Leave for Milan Pastorate
Rev O W Jones will leave the Christian church in the city after three years to become pastor at Milan Missouri. Milan is the county seat of Sullivan county in the northern part of the state and he expects to take charge about August 1. Friends regret his departure with his family.
