New Beef Conservation Order Reduces Weekly Beef Meals

Lightning Fires Two Barns Near Depot and Jasper

An electric storm after rain Monday night set two barns ablaze. The Tom Patterson property depot area big barn burned despite effort to save animals. One jack remained trapped, valued around 000 with 250 insured. Feed worth about 250 lost for Rex, F. J. Schooler and others. Patterson’s barn insured for 750 and destroyed. Mrs Stockdale near Jasper also lost a nearby barn, insured for 500. Strong southwest wind spread embers, but rains kept further fires at bay.

Five Stars in His Flag for Five Sons Service

Neil Mikesell of the Blue Star neighborhood received a service flag with five stars for his five sons in the military two in the Army and three in the Navy. The flag was handmade by local Red Cross ladies. Neil praised the ladies and asked to convey his deep gratitude saying they may add another star if he is drafted again.

Little Soldier at the Waters residence announces the birth of a baby boy born Sunday morning to W. TL Waters Jr and his wife. Mary, age one, comments that she prefers baby boys when they grow a bit bigger, calling them “sipwort.”

Moore Hamm Wedding Near Jasper

A quiet home wedding Sunday noon at seven miles northwest of Jasper joined Miss Elsie Hamm and Mr. D Fredereck Moore. Rev W J Sunderland officiated. The bride wore white georgette crepe and guests later dined. The bride, once a Carthage resident, has worked as a stenographer at Tonganoxie Kansas this year. The groom lives in Carthage and has been in Eldorado since last fall for work, with plans to reside there.
