Wheat Harvest Opens In Nearby Fields
The 1920 wheat harvest begins in nearby areas with early yields uncertain. Farmers expect 10 to 15 bushels in many fields while some claim 20, but oats look good and corn may suffer from chinch bugs. Shipping facilities are poor and Jasper elevators are near full as cars are scarce. Also reported: Glen Buzzard and Beulah Cather wed in Joplin with Buzzard a bank clerk and Cather a longtime Joplin teacher, soon returning to Jasper or Fowler. Perry K. Hurlbut is named coroner.

Jasper light plant changes hands to W. H. Percy
Light service improves under Percy management after ownership changes. Percy, formerly part owner at installation, plans to replace oil engines with a steam unit and later consider day service. Meanwhile, a car accident injures Wilman Tabler, daughter of W. S. Tabler, with witnesses uncertain about details. Car occupants Miss Ingraham and Mr. Bullock express regret and visit the girl.
