News reaches press of the death of Mrs. George Waltz following a prolonged illness. The passing occurred about 1 o'clock last night, marking a quiet end after months of declining health.

Advertising Rates Hold Steady In Thin Paper

Wheat Harvest Expands in Jasper County Again This Year

Jasper County faces a third heavy wheat crop with acreage up 16 percent. Local growers Moyer and Lowe led early binders as hundreds of acres go into shock by week’s end. State forecasts push yield above last year’s 1,250,000 bushels, aiming for about 1,750,000 bushels at roughly $2.00 per bushel, while oats show promise. The Cottey Entertainers program at M. E. Church features performances by Mildred McLemore, Lida Drake, Hubert Fowler, and others in a varied concert.

Secretary Webb Seeks Harvest Hands for Missouri Kansas Jobs

Secretary Webb of the Commercial Club received numerous applications Monday and Tuesday for harvest work and is in touch with labor commissions in several Missouri Oklahoma and Kansas cities. He expects about one hundred men to arrive by mid next week with wages around five dollars a day.
