News reaches press of the death of Mrs. George Waltz following a prolonged illness. The passing occurred about 1 o'clock last night, marking a quiet end after months of declining health.
It Had to Come. Rates in the thin issue remain unchanged until July 1 when the fiat-page rate rises to 15 cents per column inch and 1244 cents on inside and back pages. Locals stay at 5 cents a line.
City ordinances prohibit open cutouts on cars and driving over 12 miles per hour inside corporate limits. The measures were adopted for public safety and comfort and officials have orders to arrest violators. J. E. Hull, Mayor.
Guy Webb of Carthage traveled to Jasper on Thursday for an unlisted engagement. No further details were provided about the purpose or duration of the visit.
Jasper County faces a third heavy wheat crop with acreage up 16 percent. Local growers Moyer and Lowe led early binders as hundreds of acres go into shock by week’s end. State forecasts push yield above last year’s 1,250,000 bushels, aiming for about 1,750,000 bushels at roughly $2.00 per bushel, while oats show promise. The Cottey Entertainers program at M. E. Church features performances by Mildred McLemore, Lida Drake, Hubert Fowler, and others in a varied concert.
Secretary Webb of the Commercial Club received numerous applications Monday and Tuesday for harvest work and is in touch with labor commissions in several Missouri Oklahoma and Kansas cities. He expects about one hundred men to arrive by mid next week with wages around five dollars a day.

Bridal party included Lenora Baird Baxter Springs and Alvin Fain Webb City. Groom from Company G 137th Infantry All Kansas recently overseas return. They left by Missouri Pacific at 1 40 to visit Webb City and Bentonville Ark.
Will Cline of Carytown buys Morrison Zion place of 40 acres south of Jasper Webb Brow sells the old Curtis place in Zion neighborhood to C V Ballard last week.
T H B Bell of Jasper County Missouri died last Friday at Carthage Hospital after several weeks illness and gallstone operation. Born November 26 1809 in Cole County he lived in Missouri all his life. Survived by second wife one daughter Mrs Pascoe Phoenix Ariz two sons George W Bell Parsons Kans Thomas Knox Bell two brothers P Je and R A Bell. Funeral at Mt Church Avilla with Rev Sam Keys and Rev Mr Blevins, burial Avilla Cemetery.
Miss Irma Frances Munsters Masters became the bride of John D Ball in a 2:30 pm home ceremony at Rev Eubanks residence. Officiating was Rev Weaver K Eubank. The bride, daughter of H Masters of 515 West Central, will reside at 400 Mast Street. the groom works as a vatshed employee at Mountain Grove creamery.
New farm implements arrive at McCune & Tallman for Tom McCall and Arthur Frost. The two binders feature Hyatt roller bearings and perform smoothly, likened to sewing machines.
Davis and Dennis Grider and Leroy Snyder returned from Germany this past week. They have been released from the Army and are ready to jump into the harvest field. They look mighty well and are glad to be back.
Baptist Church announces services next Sunday morning and evening with Nev. Mr Tate preaching at both. After this month the pastor will preach here on the second and fourth Sundays.
