In a lively sales note, Osborne Binders and Webb Bros Mercantile Co trumpet a carload of Mason Fruit Jars and abundant canned fruit. The piece markets Henney buggies, Walkover shoes, Star hats, Mayflower coffee, O V B turkey flour, Plymouth twine, and Peter Schuttler wagons, touting price and satisfaction while poking fun at fashion and mud.
Reverend A E Perry of Carthage and Miss Elizabeth Schbooler planned a quiet wedding in Jasper but friends intercepted them at the depot. Carriages brought guests from Carthage, and the platform was showered with rice and shoes as the ceremony, officiated by the groom’s father, unfolded after an unplanned sendoff.
Ross Dodd of Jasper married Velog Miss Hille Wertheim last Thursday. The couple visited Neodesha with Dodd's sister Mrs Lee Garst before spending a week with his parents in Jasper area. They plan to return to Thomas to live. Dodd notes liking Oklahoma.
Edith Sutton, daughter of T. J. Sutton, a farmer near Stotts City, was instantly killed yesterday morning when lightning struck as she answered a call on the Mutual Telephone line during the storm. Local authorities reported the accident occurred while she was at home.
The Republican delegates met in the Lamar opera house on Saturday to nominate a county ticket. John A. Creisel was named for representative, John Slivens for sheriff, Wilson L. McKeulen for county clerk, T W Box for circuit clerk, CT Wilson for prosecuting attorney, Mer Wilson for sheriff, Judge Thomas Hall for recorder, C. C. Daubin and Fred Nelson for treasurer with Nelson winning 1 to 0. Henry J. Weddell probate judge, S L Hackney presiding judge, Chas Harrington collector, Dan Voss assessor, Dr. Wilson coroner, Albert Amick eastern district judge, and thus Lapping western district judge. New central committee officers were elected: CB Davis chairman and Bert Longpecker secretary.
Rev EP Anderson and family return to St Louis after attending his son Mills's Utbia High School graduation. They will relocate tomorrow, leaving Utbia City where they have resided for years and formed many friendships. Anderson leads an influential church in St Louis.
A mutual Farmers Union Telephone line is nearing completion to the north east of Jasper, with about sixteen phones to be installed once instruments arrive. The system will connect with the Jasper network and link farmers including Alta Armstrong, Hutton Garner, Wm Hahn, Wm Lyman, JG Johnson, WC Kyle and others to the outside world.
RS Judd, who had the horse traders arrested after a dispute last week, dismissed the case and it is understood the parties settled their differences out of court with Judd paying costs.
