A press dispatch reports Perrin the bank president and Miss Jeasie Martin cashier of Commercial State Bank Mount Washington Missouri were locked in the bank vault by robbers who escaped with 1000. Miss Martin’s Jasper friends rejoice she escaped with no serious injury. Details are unavailable. Miss Mary Serafini youngest daughter of P Serafini a prominent farmer near Jasper married Arley Williams son of Nelson Williams of Carterville on Thursday evening in Carthage. Special Meeting Forms Action on State Aid in Jasper

The Commercial Club held a special session Monday night to pay bills file a requisition for state aid and decide on improvements to the Jefferson Highway north of Jasper and the west road. Bills allowed include 2480 for dragging west rand 4175 for North Jefferson Highway work. The club discussed increasing subscriptions and employed Hayzlett to solicit funds. Secretary Webb was ordered to subscribe 100 per mile for five miles west. Oliver Drake highlighted destitute train passengers, and a 25.00 warrant was approved for tickets to Kansas City. Meetings set for July 16 to hear fundraising reports and state aid actions. Change at Roberts Store: Ollie Roberts buys his father’s stake and becomes sole owner succeeding Le Roberts & Son. Ollie will run a cash business from September. credit accounts will be closed.

Good Rain Sunday Night Sparks Wide Area Showers

A soaking rain arrived Sunday night after a week of light showers in the vicinity. Lamar received two inches, Golden City reported good rains, Jasper measured an inch or more, and Carthage saw only a sprinkle. Corn crops are thriving this week as cultivators work steadily. Prof I C Wilkins from Springfield announces the birth of a baby girl Friday July 6, celebrated by the Wilkins family. A daughter born to Guy P Norris and wife of Ashland Nebraska Thursday July 5, named Emily Iris.
