The L P W G Company and The L P W G Concert Co presented a popular concert at the Christian Church in Sheldon Tuesday night under a young men's Sunday School class. Beulah Patterson Fern Weston Oma Webb Maye Girlin and Anderson Lear led the Jasper talent before a crowded house. The performance was a decided success with advertisers urged to submit copy by Monday noon Tuesday.
Charles M Snyder of Kansas City died at home on Thursday night January 21 from heart failure. Born August 13, 1867 near Crawfordsville Indiana he moved to Missouri as a youth and lived in Jasper. Survived by wife Fanny Frick, son Joe, sister Jennie Jackson and several others. Services held in Jasper with M W A Camp members assisting and pallbearers named. Interment in city cemetery.
Catharine Buerge born July 29 1854 in Wuater loo county Ontario died January 2 1915 in Jasper aged 60 with years. She was eldest of five girls and one boy and helped manage her father's household from age 12. The family moved to Heed City Michigan when she was 11 and later settled four miles east of Jasper on the Dintaman farm. She married George Dintaman who survives her, and they lived on the Dintaman homestead before moving to Jasper about three years ago. She leaves an aged father Christian Buerge four miles east of Jasper three sisters Lydia H Buerge Elizabeth Buerge and Mrs Jacob Scott and one brother John T Buerge. The family thanks neighbors for aid during her long illness and after.
Beginning Sunday January 1 a series of special meetings will be held at the M E Church with speakers listed for the first week including Tyr A D Ball of First Church Joplin Dr W T Clinton First Church Carthage Rev W K Chatten Tr J J Martin First Church Rich Hill and Dr Wm F Jones A church conference will close the week and regular evangelistic services resume February 7 under Pastor William K Carrun.
A play titled The Prairie Move will be performed by local youths at Lebanon Church five miles northeast of Jasper on Friday night January 2. A pie supper accompanies the event with no admission charge. Proceeds go to Warmers Union Schoolhouse.
Cearnal of the Cearnal Implement Co has taken into the firm L T McCune formerly of Kansas now in Carthage McCune brings years of implement trade experience and the two men form a capable progressive team The firm name will not change for now McCune and family occupy the J L Thomson property on Maiden Lane.
Stewart I. Long, lyceum lecturer, will deliver the address Reaching the Goal at the M. P. Church next Wednesday night February 8. The opera house had been slated for the talk but was released from the agreement due to the fifty dollar war tax on large venues.

The Mimbroidery Club gathered last Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. Ernest Crawford’s home for an afternoon of fancy work and a lively game of Anignuns. A two course luncheon followed with Mrs. Crawford assisted by Mesdames Clint Teeter Charles Teeter and Charles Ward. The Taka members listed include W. H. Knott C. J. Hayzelett T. B. John H. Flanigan sr a well known lawyer and politician died at his Carthage home last Sunday night of stomach trouble. A native of Michigamw he moved to Jasper County as a boy and became city attorney in 1883 then served in the Missouri legislature. He was Republican leader in the house and earned fame as a political orator nicknamed Lire Alarm Flanigan. He was about 58.
Mulberry basketball aims to extend its near perfect season against the undefeated Giants at Sniper Monday February 1. The Mulberry boys defeated one foe all year and trail only Kansas University. The Giants recent win was at Carterville last Wednesday. Jasper High girls to meet Duenweg. Mulberry teams to face Joplin and Duenweg Friday at the opera house.
Mieteller Truax and wife acquire the N. H. L. Roberts property described as late 2 to 24, block 8 with improvements including a good house, barn, and fruit trees, currently occupied by S. C. Davis and family.
