Readers discuss an inability to locate the pow comet while noting Venus shines brighter than in years and is visible in daylight. Local residents, including EKoecos Giand visiting Cascade, Mont, and others, are mentioned amid ads for wood sales and farm notices.
The document explains a bank’s protective fund for depositors, stating capital surplus and profits amount to 57200.00 and that depositors would lose nothing until that amount is exhausted. It emphasizes that the protection is the depositor’s guarantee and urges trust in the bank.
Benjamin H. Kerns a well known farmer and stock buyer died last Saturday at his Broken Arrow Oklahoma home from pneumonia after stomach trouble. He was born in Ohio and settled here after the Civil War owning land in Jasper and moving to Oklahoma two years after Kansas stint. He leaves a wife a son Ernest two daughters Mrs J J Randall Crestline Kans and Mrs KR Larrick Jasper and a stepdaughter Mrs Nancy Snyder Broken Arrow. Grandson Emmet Randall Miami Okla and nearby relatives from Carterville attended the burial in Salem cemetery on Monday.
Wm Rector aged 42 dies after a long siege of rheumatism at Rex’s farm near Jasper. He had lived with Lon Garner and family for about ten years, formerly a miner at Webb City and Joplin, and contracted the illness while working in mines. Burial was at Walnut Grove cemetery with relatives attending.
No casualties were reported as Septuagesina passed. Miss Alberta Melton visited Sarlozie with Miss Juanita Hendricks and Mrs. O. L. Wallar, who has recovered from pneumonia. Rev. McCaughtrey spoke at a mass meeting in Carthage on focal option, aiding precinct organization. Mrs. Stella Swift and Miss Emme Lawin arrived from Cedar Falls to visit.

Through the News the Alpha club in Jasper is urged to beautify the city by planting trees along streets and public buildings. The State Horticultural Society favors the elm for this purpose and offers to provide elms at no cost if the club accepts. D Matthiws and others note their support.
