A Jasper incident late Monday afternoon left Allen Whitesel with a broken leg and his horse badly injured after a wagon runaway. The wagon struck a tree as Whitesel tried to steer near Omer Webb's residence. He was carried home and treated by Dr. Gooding with the horse later dying. Whitesel blames the loss of the horse on its value to his daughter.

She had lived in Jasper a year or so, was skilled musically, active in social circles, and recently moved to Carthage for medical treatment leaving Jasper about ten months ago. The bereaved family receive the sympathy of Jasper friends.
The county court yesterday debated altering the Base Line Bridge origin to raise the structure but, after discussion, voted two to one to keep the present height. Residents feared greater height would affect the bluff and flood risk. Dr Ketelian consulted from Carthage about the jaw injury to Frank Thomason, who is wired and in serious condition after his jaw was broken. On January Ski 1008 J W Spaid’s old farm hosts a public sale by David Pugh. Cozatt and Webb attended the Kansas City convention.
