Mr and Mrs Pred Gresham spent Sunday with Johnnie Gaddis and family Virgil Rice. John and Nettie Lowe return home after a Pittsburg Kansas vacation. Flossie Patterson visited Lona Patterson Saturday. Sem Mrs Harry Hille and daughter Dorothy visited Webb City. Mr and Mrs Luther Wescort spent Sunday with Petix Weacott. Mrs Lute Sells and family of Wittsburg Kansas visiting this week. Af and Mee Dick Patterson and family at Abe Patteraston’s Sunday. Jasper tie visited with sister Mins Wallace of Carthy. Dennis Steiber started to school this week. Temperature drops raise demand for coal as gas scarce and cold weather looms.
Blue school Opere after a week off Clark Armstrong wife and two children visited from Pleasanton Kansas to see sister Mrs W M Warlo and relatives. Ed Daisey sold two young males to Mr Thompson for Jasper. Thomas Miller of near Fort Smith Ark visited his brother Firm Miller. Tom Armstrong and family rented a house in Carthage. John Keltner butchered Monday in frigid weather. Annie Wardlaw and Hazel Armstrong visited Mrs W M Mevins. Jennie and Jessie Johnston visited from Zion neighborhood. Beulah and Johnnie King Jr on sick list. Remains of W H Harmon brought from Scaramon Kans and interred in Waters cemetery. Ed Daisey spent Sunday at Parley Cline’s.
The infant of John Buzzard died after a short pneumonia illness. Mrs Prank Wood is on the sick list. Marshall Smith returned from the west. Maud Hardy visited her brother John. Mrs Frank Wood visited Mrs Chas Buzzard. Chas Buzzard sold a fine horse. Frank Crabtree visits home. Leona Cremer of Pittsburg vacationed with grandparents. Mr and Mrs Frank Wood C A Nett and J W Buzzard joined Corder Bros and Robt Horton in drag and transfer work. Nett and Buzzard moved to town after selling firm equipment. Corder Bros bought Lamey Bros in September. Horton has worked on macadam streets for years. Future plans of Horton and the Corders are not announced.
Last week in Dublin US Hatfield moved to a new home in Jasper with help from J C Webber, Mr Lane, and Mr Grider. Craft work continues at the schoolhouse including new flooring and bell installation. Furnace trouble returns with cold snap. school dismissed and room stores installed. J R Wheat seeks to buy cream.
E C Morlan a long time resident and merchant of Dublin died after a paralytic stroke. He was buried in Waters cemetery following services by Rev Roum at Wm Lane’s home. A native of Pennsylvania he served in the Civil War then settled in Lamar and Dublin. Survived by six children including Cora Wallar Ida Lane Oliver and George Morlan with Stephen predeceased. He had lived in Marceline for eight years with his daughter Mrs Wallar.
Ephraim Boyer died last Friday night at 9 o'clock at his Cape Johnson farm home three miles northwest of town from consumption after several months of illness. Born in March 1828 he was in his fed year. He came to this area last March from Marceline Missouri and was buried there the following Saturday. His wife two sons Roy and William and a daughter accompanied the remains. Mrs Boyer and the two sons will remain on the farm but will be at Marceline for a few days.
Gladys Burrard the three month old daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Burrard died at home seven miles northwest of Jasper last Saturday Lung fever was the cause of death A funeral service was held at Waters cemetery after services at the home conducted by Rev Crockett The public extends sympathy to the bereaved family
A fragmentary ad style item cites A K Smith praising King's New Gife Palle for indigestion and liver trouble. It claims the product provided relief and urges trying it for stomach and kidney issues, with a local vendor Woebl Bros mentioned.
Notice is hereby given to creditors and others interested in the estate of J H Melony that J Arthur K R McClurg, administrator with will annexed, will make a final settlement at the next term of the Probate Court of Jasper County Mississippi to be held at Carthage on February 15. Also named is Agtion Kk McCunm as Administrator.
