Thomas L. Brown aged 89 died at his daughter’s home Jasper after a brief illness from smallpox. He was born Oct 8, 1820 in eastern Tennessee and married Adeline Carson in 1839. A Union veteran with eleven children and many descendants, he lived in Jasper eleven years after moving from Kansas in 1890. He is survived by four children and numerous grandchildren. Burial was at Waters Cemetery, northwest of Jasper. Thistleware at Baynes'.
Mrs. S R Mitchell wife of Efrom former, died last Friday from paralysis after seven years of illness. Funeral at Mitchell home 54 miles NW of Jasper, burial Waters cemetery. Born March 26 1842 Jefferson County Tennessee. Married Sept 28 1865 to S R Mitchell. Eight living children near home, plus several grandchildren. Mitchells moved from Missouri to Barton County farm over thirty five years ago. She joined Presbyterian church then Bethel M E church. Deputy Latkes named to replace Porter. will move to Carthage next week. Calicoes 5¢ yd Saturday Feb 11 Crow Merc Co.
