A local business thanks its patrons for favors during the year just ending and explains difficulties faced from unusual business conditions. It pledges to improve service in the coming year and to conduct business on a plan that ensures patrons receive the best merchandise.
Milo Trimble and his wife welcome a baby girl born last week. The mother is formerly Miss Berniece Boyd, daughter of Mrs. J. A. Boyd, prior to her marriage.
Five or four places were entered overnight with $25 in value taken from Webb Bros, Shields Drug Store, Roberts Store, and the post office. Yeggs blew the post office safe outer door but inner mechanism remained intact. They used Turner’s hand car to depart, found miles south of Carytown.
The paper reflects on market pressures and industry fears but affirms resilience and service to the community. It stresses honesty, industry, and gratitude for national opportunities, urging one day at a time effort, unity, and faith in Providence for prosperity.
The first W C T U gathering of 1921 will convene at vice president Mrs Beulah Teeter's home on Friday January 7. All members are urged to attend for important business. Mrs Hattie Wine, president.

Among the sick J B Cline remains homebound due to cold weather while W H Ward limits downtown activity. Mrs Ursula Tabler shows improvement and Mrs Augusta Manson regains strength. W H Hoover continues home confinement with age related illness. Mrs Alice Kellmer returns from Mound Valley Kansas after third operation in two months.
Miss Leta Byers daughter of J E Byers and John E Keener of C H Keener and wife were wed last Sunday evening at the Byers home two miles west of Jasper Rev Akers of the Main Street Presbyterian Church Carthage officiated. The bride is popular in a large circle of friends and Mr Keener has lived in the county most of his life. He is an ex service man and was wounded in service. They will live on the Keener place southeast of Jasper. A wedding supper followed with Charles Wine and family of Jasper and Miss Pearl Alexander in attendance.
Miss Nina Loudenslager and John W. Ganes wed in Carthage last Friday evening. Mrs. Ganes is the daughter of J F Loudenslager from near Jasper. she has lived here years and studied in Springfield. The bride joined her husband at his Fayetteville Arkansas fruit farm, and many friends extend best wishes.
The Kansas City Star announces an advance of 10 dollars per ton in newsprint. Beginning January 1 the paper will pay 130 dollars per ton for white paper, adding about 30 thousand dollars a month. The price applies to the first six months of 1921.
Ellis Cearnal and family of Springfield visited Charley Teeter and family the first of the week. They all spent Christmas with J. R. Cearnal and family nine miles southeast of Jasper.
