Jasper Mourns E L Thomas A Devoted Banker and Minister
The Jasper community mourns Edward Lewis Thomas, longtime banker and pastor, whose death Saturday evening at age 76 ends a life of service in banking, ministry, and charity. Born in 1849 near Columbus Ohio, he settled in Kansas, served multiple churches, chaired First National Bank of Als, and supported the Methodist Episcopal Church, leaving a legacy of integrity and kindness. He is survived by one son, three grandchildren, and his Jasper household. Memorial services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev HM B Foster preaching.
