The annual Odd Fellows hunt is set for Monday the 29th and the supper for Wednesday night the 31st. All Odd Fellows invited to participate and choose their own territory. Proceeds from the sale fund oysters and trimmings for the big supper for Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. sale printing available at the News Office.
A passenger train struck a Ford car at the Jefferson Highway and Missouri Pacific crossing in fog. Russell Hough, his wife Cyra Baird Hough, and their two month old baby perished. Mrs. Hough survived briefly, later hospitalized in Jasper. Survivors include Cyra’s sister Mia and four Baird brothers. Russell’s parents G W Hough and wife. Mastersingers concert at M S Church drew a full house with praise for the male quartet and individual performers.
Jasper Lodge No. 398 elected C. L. Havelett as Worshipful Master Clarence Cline as Senior Warden Frank Wine as Junior Warden A. P. Sessor as Secretary and Chorge Itex as Treasurer for the coming year.
Peerless Chapter No. 75 elected officers last Sunday night for the ensuing year. Mrs. Anna Spaid was chosen Worthy Matron with N. H. Patterson as Worthy Patron. Associate Matron and Conductress selections include Mra A Drake and Mra I Crawford. Associate Conductress Mrs. Rt L Roberts. Secretary Mrs. C J Wayzlett and Treasurer C L Hayxlett.
Services scheduled at Lebanon Methodist Church next Sunday at 11 AM and 7 PM. The church will be warm and in good condition. Pastor D. E. Dowless invites everyone to attend and bring friends.
Thage and his California based brothers G I Hough and William Hough of Carthage along with three sisters Mrs James D Carter Mrs Charles C Carter of Carthage and Mrs Robert Wolfe of Jasper are listed in the obituary. Funeral plans await the arrival of G W Hough and his wife from California.
North Star Schoolhouse hosts a pie supper Friday night January 2 inviting all residents to come and enjoy. Clara Fenner, the teacher, promotes the event for community fun and gathering.
