Bad weather postpones the premium corn auction in bustel lot tied to the Jasper County Boys Corn Show. Farmers are offered seed corn in the ear, 14 cal, carefully selected to show exactly what they bid on, a strong inducement to Jasper County bidders.
Friends announced Miss Madge Woods wed Ehaer Thorpe Cort aide at her Stogers, Arkansas home. The ceremony occurred Wednesday December 12. Woods is known in Jasper from visits to her brother Dr. W. LH Woods and other lines involved.
Jesse S. Binger of Edmond Olea longtime resident and respected citizen was killed Monday December 11 when the wagon car he rode in was struck by a train. He was a brother of H A Ringer who lives near Jasper.
Birth announcements list a boy born to W. J. Kaderly and wife near three miles north on Wednesday December 14 and a girl born to Jess Onstott and wife six miles northwest on Monday December 17. Ulverett Looney to pastor the dis persuplist church with services on the second and fourth Sundays, Prof. Calkins oversees Sunday school, and renewal notices list several subscribers. A fire damaged the roof of Will Redmond’s house, hole around the chimney. Jasper high basketball opens at home against Lamar high, inviting attendance.
Mrs. Fred Earl arranges delivery of the News to her brother Chas. A. Little of Co. C 347th Machine Gun Battalion Camp Lewis American Lake Washington and to Mrs. Frank English of Sheridan Wyoming for Partnership Day at Sunday school next Sunday.
