Influenza Cases Drop Sharply in Jasper This Week
Last week Jasper counted about 80 influenza cases. this week the number is around 5 with a few new cases. The town reports one very serious patient, Mrs. Wm. Cline, pneumonia and unlikely recovery. Many families recover, others remain ill, and Sunday School Christmas exercises may be postponed due to the epidemic.

Frank H Magers of Jasper Jasper county dies in Imperial California from influenza followed by double pneumonia at age 1 year 6 months 8 days He left Barton County grew up Jasper and married Stella Covert May 11 1910 A 7 year old daughter survives He worked in railway mail service later bookkeeper in Imperial Cremation was at Jasper with Masonic service at grave Surviving relatives include his mother Mrs J I Curtis Carthage and several step and half siblings.

Frank Steiner Wounded in First Battle and Evacuation
Frank Steiner was wounded early in the battle with a machine gun bullet to his right leg causing a fractured limb. He writes from Evacuation Hospital No. 24 that the injury is not pleasant and that they may leave soon for the U S A. He believes the home folks back there are celebrating the victory and says not to worry as he intends to recover.
