Near miss as freight and passenger trains converge
A dispatcher misrouted passenger train S10 from Harrisonville to Kansas City at 12:25 PM and freight No 01 from Pleasant Hill at 2:20 PM. The two trains nearly collided on a curve near Ore six miles south of Pleasant Hill. both crews stopped in time, avoiding a wreck. The error involved miscommunication between Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill, and telegraph-less stretches. Sheldon Naterprine reports.
