H. O. Earl Injured in a Runaway
A runaway west of town yesterday injured H O Earl with two broken ribs and a smashed buggy. Reuben Smith and another Gulick farm employee drove hay frames from Jasper when their first team collided with Irvin Rice on a bicycle. The second team bolted, the wagon tipped, and the horses pulled the buggy apart as they fled westward. Earl, driving west, was struck as the runaway teams passed, but the drivers came to assist. Smith was hurt and excited, awaiting Dr. Knott.
