Rotary members hear Johnnie Connell on Cuban Rotary trip
At a Tuesday luncheon Rotary Club members heard Johnnie Connell describe the International Rotary Convention in Havana Cuba last week. He and Mrs. Connell traveled from Miami by boat and stayed in Havana for sessions and tours including forts and the capitol. They reported friendly Cuban people and noted beliefs about U S war. Visitors Willie Weir James Hobbs N F Fee and Frank Butler attended.

Gas Lines Extended And Renovated In Jal
A. G. Stewart of Ysleta with the Lea County Gas Company supervised finishing work on 5 100 feet of gas lines and 2 000 copper feet of one inch service lines in Jal. Lines were extended replaced and laid into previously unserved parts of town.

Singing Convention At Church of God Draws Crowds
The singing school began Monday night at the Church of God and has progressed well this week. Methodist and Baptist churches cooperate to support the event. Large crowds attend nightly. Mrs J M Whitworth plans a three week trip to Springfield Missouri to visit her parents and then to Atlanta Georgia with her husband.

Gasoline blast starts apartment house fire
The Volunteer Fire Department responded to a gasoline explosion at the home of Mr and Mrs G A Marler. Marler suffered seven degree burns to his hands and arms while Mrs Marler was burned but not badly. The kitchen bath and bedroom were badly damaged and almost all clothing destroyed. The fire did not spread to the adjoining apartment. The burning building belonged to O H Cooper.

Keever Recovering After Operation in Temple
Rev G L Keever underwent an appendectomy at Scott and White Hospital Temple last Friday. He was traveling with his wife from Mineral Wells to Austin when the trip included a stop in Temple for a check up. He is recovering and plans to rest in Big Spring with his daughter before heading to Jal.

A county pre school and baby clinic took place Tuesday all day inviting all children bound for school this fall to receive smallpox and diphtheria vaccines if not already immunized. County nurse Mrs Lenora McDaniel from Eunice organized and urged mothers to attend.

Speed Law To Be Enforced In Town
Mrs Eddy’s brother Murry Bylander, twin of Mrs John Eddy, died in an airplane crash this week while test piloting. Eddy is in Arkansas visiting her parents. the body will likely be sent there. Mayor A H Adams announced new twenty mph speed limit signs and strict enforcement citywide with penalties for violations.

Proposed Law To Help Postmasters In Small Offices
