Maurice Groshon arrived from Cheyenne for an inspection and spoke at the Pure Food Club. He traced the origin and evolution of the Pure Food Law, cited adulteration and misleading labels, and urged public effort in support of the law’s merit and enforcement.
Mr and Mrs Jim Bates return from Yellowstone Park trip. W J Kelly did business in town. Frank Tanner and family moved in for school. Mrs Perrine returns home. Paul Imeson in town from Twin Falls Idaho last week. Mrs M E Estes leaves Jackson for St Anthony and will return before winter. Walter Scott in town Tuesday. W P Redmond in Jackson early week. J J Saunders and children visit in town late week. Ht L Curtis children move to town for school living in Steele building with Pearl. Popa area hunts noted. Mr Goodrich of Wilson visiting. T W Lloyd returns from Frontier exhibitions at Salt Lake Idaho Falls.
A Friday roof blaze at the Whey Smith residence in Jackson threatened major damage before residents’ swift bucket brigades confined the fire. Winds were high as the fire started near a kitchen pipe and burned along the roof, tearing boards and dirt moved to expose the flame, but water was directed to the blaze and it was extinguished.

Democratic contenders John B. Kendrick Deep Static candidate for Governor Hon Fred L Thompson and others will visit Jackson Hole next week. Kendrick Thompson Armott of Laramte will speak Tuesday night at Grovent fridge hall and Wednesday night at Mubhowse in Jackson. A large turnout is urged with a dance after both talks.
The head engineers of Security Bridge Company have arrived and are preparing to commence work on the Snake River bridge. A large amount of piling and flooring timber is on the grounds with other materials to be delivered at Victor. Placing the piling may be slow, but the remainder of the work can proceed quickly, Tele notes the bridge could be completed this fall.
The Reclamation Service at the lake plans two cofer dams one upstream and one downstream to drain the space between them. Workers will then access the area to begin permanent dam work.
The Pure Food Club of Jackson met last Friday at Mrs Webster Phat’s home on Flat Creek. Members and visitors enjoyed an all day gathering with a fine dinner served by the hostess and Mrs J Saunders. Two tours from Jackson joined the group for a successful event, with a lively program before adjournment. The club will meet with Mrs Roy Wai Vieck on Friday September 25.
Friday night dance at the Club House advertised with Fresh lime. Will Stevenson and Rand Gi Hall returned from a sheep hunt. Tourists arrived, and several locals discussed ranch prospects in Grovant. High power s theft from Reed Hotel reported. Residents visit relatives in Pinedale and Grovant as school opens with Miss Pearl Bender in charge. Voters urged to approve Jackson incorporation.
The parents of Mies freta Winegar and Mr. Clay Seaton received portrait cards with the figures of the young couple and the inscription Mr and Mrs Clay Seaton, indicating a recent wedding. Details are scarce but the couple are known locally and will be welcomed upon their return.
Stockholders of the W O W Polling Association will meet at the W O W Hall on Thursday evening October 1 at 800 PM to elect officers and address other business as may come before the gathering.
The week starts with a snowstorm described as real winter, but the season has shifted back to summer with little damage expected. Walter Spicer and family return to their ranch near Grovenu, while Fred Lovejoy and southern Tennessee tourists report elk and bear captures on their Krimmet Pu sider trip. Debts to James L May are urged to be settled promptly as funds are needed.
Miss Pearl Nichols visits Jackson with In Jackson and Win Treton noted visiting the Ridge. Residents Comber and Baxter traveled to Valley View and Jackson last weekend. The potato crop looks fair though a freeze threatens. two inches of new snow melted with rain by Monday.
