Big Piney Voters Rally On Yellowstone Park Extension

At a Big Piney Roundup meeting residents voted to back Jackson people against extending Yellowstone National Park. A government park service and railroad reps meeting was slated for last Monday night. Jackson’s residents reportedly oppose any park extension. W. C. Shinkle and son Ray planned a winter in Twin Falls Idaho. Edith Bynon of Pocatello Idaho visited Jackson’s Hole. Subscription reminder notes appeared. W. C. Delaney resigned as land appraiser and will join his father in a Jackson merchandising venture.

West Lands Leasing Bill Gains Senate Committee Support

The public lands committee of the Senate favored the leasing bill by unanimous vote. It would allow owners of lawful claims in naval reserve lands to develop them, marking a decade long push for a square deal to produce oil. Wagon accident injures Liyle Hearie on Flat Creek hill

Liyle Hearie, son of Matt Henrie, was severely injured Tuesday afternoon when a wagon loaded with camp outfit tipped on a steep hill near Flat Creek and Cal Carrington ranch. Hearie suffered a deep wound to his right leg plus scratches and bruises, sidelining him for a time. Carrington, also on the wagon, was crushed.

Frontier Celebration Grand Success in Jackson

A Jackson celebration over Thursday and Friday drew large crowds and smooth management. Showers helped dust control and drew ranchers away from haying to attend. Winners included Fred Devo n in bugking, Vernon Curtis, Leonard Ferrin, John Worth, and Ray Ferrin in various events, Ed Win River in men’s relay, and Miss Pearl Williams winning a close iris relay. Numerous races and displays highlighted by bread and grain prizes, with plans to make it annual and emphasize stock and grain exhibits alongside wild west features. Fatal Accident Near Wilson Claims Young Lad

A fatal accidental shotgun discharge occurred Friday afternoon at the home of John Mangum seven miles north of Wilson, killing Darwin, a six year old boy. He was alone with a younger brother when the gun fired, the load entering his chest and his burial occurred Saturday in Fleming cemetery.

Wyoming and other western state newspapers reject extending Yellowstone Park along proposed lines. Sheridan Daily Post and Cheyenne Daily Tribune front pages condemn the plan, joined by Astoria Idaho Herald and others. Schools to Open Monday If Contracts Hold

Several districts plan to open Monday with teachers secured or pending. Wilson High School has hired Miss Simpson and will open Monday. Cheney lacks a secured teacher though Mr Bilis hopes to obtain one before Monday. Jackson School grades Th and Sth to be taught by Rev Nash. Miss Thomas and Mrs Don Hight assigned to other levels.
