More men called Ove thouand will be drafted into service in Wyoming on the 24th. Fifty taken from Lincoln County with three from Tecum's Hole. Lloyd Reed of Jackson William Nelson of Kelly Louin W Francis of Zenith R 8 Dalley of Driggs tallied in draft. Merritt Baldwin reports water jackets for machine guns in Philadelphia. Mrs. Ollie Smith's daughter born last Thursday in Grovont.

Food Administration Sets Grain Price Protection

The Food Administration ordered state officials to require corn barley and oat millers and grain dealers to price corn meal and oat meal at least 20 percent below wheat flour and corn flour and barley flour at least 1 percent below wheat flour.

Pure Food Club Social Notes and Upcoming Meeting

The Pure Food Club met last Friday with Mrs T W Loyd. Members did Red Cross work including knitting and sewing an afghan. A pleasant social time occurred. The club will meet with Mrs W Delaney Friday afternoon June 28. Mr and Mrs Sam McBride celebrate a pranehagon on Monday. Miss Rosamond Fiacus turns fourteen in Cheyenne and will enter summer.

News From France Baveral Latterned Soldiers Reach Home Front

From Jackson Hole area readers learn of local soldiers in France and their experiences. Lester Leok and Tony Graha survived a wreck while transporting horses to the front and witnessed Paris during an air raid. Most local men remain in the same camp, with Estes and O Grote in France, Wagner’s status unclear.

Petition Seeks Unified County High School District

Board tabled action on a petition demanding a special election to consolidate Districts 10 20 and 21 into one high school district. 103 signers included non owners of real estate triggering legal requirements. next meeting to consider a revised petition. Hole area growing rapidly with plans for a well equipped school. Reports of limited train service near Driggs due to washouts. temporary repairs made. German Alien Females Must Register

The registration of German alien females began Monday June 17 and ends Wednesday June 26. In cities with 5080 population or more the process is by police officials, while in towns under 6000 population it is handled by Dostmasters. Registered individuals must provide fingerprints, a method also used in U S military and naval services. Roy Spicer of Laramie visited his brother Walter. Curtis Ferrin and four Jackson Hole youths, Ben Beaton James Monnelly Fay Link and Ed Powell, stationed at Camp Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, report all well. Joe Novak returned to Drugs, noting the baby’s rapid improvement.

Mrs Jussie Saueressig Dies After Illness in Victor

News from Jackson reports the death of Mrs. Jussie Saueressig at Victor at 2:30 AM while traveling for health. She had stayed in Victor with husband J V Saueressig and brother Lloyd during a declining illness. Interment followed at Victor Cemetery after funeral in the LDS church.

Water Receding After Historic High Flood In Jackson Hole

High water paralyzed mail service and traffic for two weeks in Jackson Hole as the Shake river rose to record levels. The main channel narrowed the bridge, washing away the ferry near the riverbank and cutting the telephone line. Menor's ferry tied up. Buffalo RiverCrownt line impassable. Flood caused extensive damage to ranches ditches headgates and bridges, with normal conditions expected to return soon.

Mail Carriage Sparks Boat Launch in Jackson

Through 8 N Leek efforts a makeshift boat was built to carry mail across the river. Leek and partner transported mail and two passengers to Wilson then returned with papers. A proposed regular crossing faced funding hurdles after a telegram from Congressman Mondell indicated post office support, but Curtis and Blair could not confirm payments, leaving service suspended.

Special School Meeting Confirms Directors at Jackson

In a special school election at the Jackson schoolhouse last Monday afternoon George W. Kelly was confirmed as director for one year to fill the unexpired term of G. B. Ratliff. E. P. Ellis was elected to a two year term to replace Jas. B. Simpson who resigned. The South Park schoolhouse location was chosen by a majority vote at Callahan's place. Callahan offered to deed one acre of ground for school use. A special tax of 14 mills was imposed on the district's assessed valuation.
