Buiting Trades Strike In Tri Cities Settled
The three months old strike of building trades in the tri cities ended Friday with signed agreements at Rock Island. Two craft settlements reduce wages by about 2 4216 cents per hour or $1 per day, ending the major work since April 1. Electricians painters and plasterers did not sign. A board of arbitration will settle future differences. The settlement cuts the master builders’ demands by about half.

Horse Shoe Controversy Swirls Over 41 vs 40 Feet
Des Moines June 14. The Davis versus Taylor case over a four hundred dollar purse from a horse shoe contest pits C C Davis of Columbus against G W Taylor, with national champion Frank Jackson as witness. The dispute centers on whether pegs stood 41 feet apart, not 40 as per regulations. Davis claims stakes were moved after he placed them, while Jackson supports the 41 foot arrangement. Polk County Horse Shoe association members fear a taint on the sport and rumors of gambling arrests arise as the municipal court hears the matter.
