Deputy Sheriff Morgan brings Fist Versus Steve Poker Carpernhare to Manchester jail after a Tuesday night clash with Bernhard Hagerman in a Hopkinton restaurant. Hagerman struck with an iron bar and punched. his head wound and facial disfigurement are noted. Hagerman, a navy veteran, draws interest from the Hopkinton Post of the American Legion, which questions Bernhard's unprovoked attack on the younger man.
Henry Jacobsen a DeWitt farmer filed a voluntary bankruptcy petition in federal court here today. He lists total debts of 20 289 49 and assets of 18 510 with 16 000 valuation on 80 acres owned in Clinton county. Two mortgages 11 000 and 2 000 are held by Peoples Savings Bank at Grand Mound on the land.
At Davenport fair this week Charles Meyer and Sons led Hereford cattle showing four exhibits while rivals failed to match the Meyer team. They won eighteen ribbons including Junior and Senior Grand Champion Ball and several class prizes. Premiums were offered by the American Hereford Breeders Association of Kansas City. A separate note reports picnickers fined for disturbing fish during swimming.
The Presto Water Company has changed hands in a noon deal Wednesday between W F Schroeder cashier of the First National Bank and three stockholders Nick Gudes Geo Meyers and John Schroeder. The transaction transfers ownership to the named stockholders as part of the local waterworks restructuring.
