Iron Mountain repairs the depot and lays new steel rails from Iron Mountain to Allenville. A full crew works at the depot and along the track. The Houck road will gain better service as competition prompts improved facilities and first class railroad service for Jackson.
David H. Wieland, who recently bought about 300 acres near Neelys Landing, visited Jackson Monday. A veteran of mining districts, he has studied mining carefully and seeks a local mining or development company to prospect for ore, offering his services for free until proven valuable.
In Elk Township Wright County Missouri an active volcano is reported on the Willis Todd farm. An acre of land sinks and the center becomes hot like lava while smoke and ash-like mist rise from a sunken strip. Residents recall eruptions on the nearby Hegue farm that left a large basin, warning the volcano could grow dangerous.
A. J. McGhee advertises at six miles west of Jackson offering two good horses and an excellent jack for the 1907 season. Also a black four-year-old draft horse a four-year-old Percheron, a 16 hands high mahogany bay saddle and harness horse, and a top breeder jack claimed with no superior locally. Come and see the stock and be convinced.
Three red Durham calves are offered for sale by August H. Hennecke. Call or write early for details and arrangement.

Wheat looks fine and local schools close with praise. Minton school ended March 22 with James A. Arnold of Millerville praised as teacher. Two pupils Ross C McVey and Frank A Kirchhoff earned State Public School certificates. East Egypt school taught by Miss Hitt also closed the same day.
A man claiming Sikeston origin bought Collins farm via Howell County Land Co using a $500 bank check and caused others to cash his checks totaling about 10. He left West Plains after authorities learned he had no account with Sikeston Bank and had issued bogus checks there. The German visitor is described as dark complexioned, with one missing upper tooth, frequents saloons and real estate offices. Information should be sent to the city marshal. Sunday School Rally at Baptist church featured songs, recitations, and an Temperance program led by local youths, concluding with benediction by Rev. Ross.
