Sunday Heat Tests Pocahontas. Lee Fires Shot at Girl
A shooting incident occurred near Lee's railroad camp south of Pocahontas Saturday night when Andy Lee, reportedly intoxicated, fired at a girl after a disturbance. The girl fled to the road, was helped to a neighbor, and swore out a warrant leading to Lee's Sunday morning arrest. The gun was later said to have been emptied to avoid further danger. Elsewhere, foot races draw interest as Oscar Hope challenges locals and Robert Ruff defeats Charles Kasten, setting up a Ruff vs Hope matchup. Visitors include Mr. and Mrs. John Sample at a family home, and Republican candidate Johnson campaigned last week.
