Explosion at Groseclose mill devastates works and mill remains
On January 26 at 12:10 the L. O. Groseclose saw mill boiler exploded causing widespread damage. The blast hurled debris across fields, wrecked the mill shed, blew a two thousand pound boiler piece into an orchard, and shattered the Graceclose house transom. No one was killed. gas in the boiler is suspected. The mill, a long time Cape Girardeau county landmark, will be removed and rebuilt next summer near Randles.

Mrs Fannie Huber is gravely ill with pneumonia. The Koker school closed its fifth month with 16 boys and 19 girls enrolled, 22 present daily, 22 absent five days or more. Egypt Mills held court with Squire Gottlieb Wilhelm Schack presiding. Frank Winde knecht prosecuted Henry Windeknecht for disturbing the peace. the defendant spoke in his own defense and was found not guilty of willfully and contemptuously disturbing the home of his neighbor Roxker Senoon CORRESPONDENT.
