A Jacob’s ladder formation climbs 600 feet with natural railings. Land titles are poor due to Indian ownership, hindering development. A resident Indian keeps a hidden gold mine, sells chunks for cash, and reveals little to anyone. Trade draws people from forty miles. dry goods cheaper than Jackson but Indian lands yield high taxes.
