Missouri Anti Cigarette Law Enforced For Minors

The new statute in Missouri, effective the 15th, bans selling or giving cigarettes to anyone under eighteen and punishes each offense with fines from ten to one hundred dollars for first offenses. Adults who contribute to underage smoking face penalties, with half the fine awarded to the complainant. Judges are directed to charge grand juries on the law’s operation.

Letter from M N Crocker to Perry ag home-comers event

Nineteenth century note from M N Crocker of Perry New York dated August 1909 declines attendance at the second annual Cape Co Home-Comers Association gathering due to age. He recalls 1851 stay in Jackson Missouri with photographers and locals including Jno Vaugh Priest and Col Russell, and notes many friends have since died. He fondly remembers hospitality, homeland memories, and sends cordial regards for the August 26 27 28 gathering.

Hog Cholera Preventive Serum Sent to Gordonville Hogs

Secretary Ellis of the State Board of Agriculture sent Mr. Lupkes serum and a syringe to vaccinate hogs against cholera. The serum is preventive, not curative, and Lupkes reported good results and ordered more. The department offers to send a representative to nearby farms at no charge for services, with the farmer paying travel and board.
