The Missouri Weather area reports mixed crop prospects for the week ending August 19. Corn shows improvement in central and many northern and southern counties though some areas remain poor with limited yield. Late corn varies by district. fodder improves with rains while some regions predict less than a quarter crop. Cotton is improving in extreme southeast. pastures mostly improve but need more rain. Water scarce in northern and eastern counties. apples and peaches gain in favored sectors but overall apple output remains light. Rains boost melons potatoes and millets. plowing for fall seeding progresses but ground is hard in northern and eastern counties. Wheat acreage may rise.
