A Mississippi county editor presses Tishomingo citizens to back Liberty Bonds Thrift Stamps and Red Cross efforts. He seeks a published donor list by July 1 with county support strong enough to deter slacker sentiment and rally soldiers overseas.
Burnsville Road District in Iuka Mississippi invites sealed bids by June 6 1918 at 1 00 p m for seven miles of road consolidation in the district. Plans and specifications are on file with the district clerk and county supervisors. A 100 dollar certified check accompanies each bid. The right to reject any or all bids rests with the district.
A vintage advertisement warns against calomel as a mercurial laxative causing cramping and nausea. It touts Dodson's Liver Tone as a harmless vegetable substitute that cleanses the liver without sickness, promising quick relief and energy for workmen and children alike.
The Mussel Shoals Highway bond issue raised 10000 to fund a Mississippi to Tennessee route. Hardeman and Fayette counties receive funds with Fayette County already operating a road grader. W A Brown inspected the Memphis to Mississippi line. the road is rough but passable. Plans call for grading the Yellow Creek district this summer and grave l to next year. Funds are on hand and more capital is expected when the Legislature meets next year to authorize alternative bond methods.
