Sunday services at the Baptist and Methodist churches drew good morning attendance though rain cut the evening crowds. Rev. W. J. Epting announced the protracted meeting would begin June 10. He left Monday to attend the Southern Baptist Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, which met Wednesday.
The board endorses the work of the public school faculty for 1908 09 and praises Principal C G Lynch and Miss Anie Stallings as valuable teachers. It notes they are no longer applicants for vacancies and urges patrons to support hiring Lynch and Stallings for the next term. A copy of the resolutions is recorded in the minutes.
Newt Yarbrough of Bear Creek, aged about 45, died after a long illness from tuberculosis on the 28th in town. He had lived a full life in the community and was known for his genial nature and broad friendships. The community offers sincere condolences.
Prof C G Lynch who has led our public school for four years has been offered and accepted the principalship at Ripley High School in Ripley Mississippi at a higher salary. He is praised for zeal energy and dedication to teaching. Ripley will gain a progressive citizen and a devoted educator.
Rev A C Anderson former Iuka circuit pastor and Millsaps College student drowned near Jackson Mississippi after rescuing an orphan. Eight boys rode in a capsized boat. all but Anderson and the boy were saved. Anderson was 22, described as a devout promising preacher.
Mr E A Hudson and a partner began clearing the Farmer's Union Warehouse wreckage on Monday and announced plans to build a brick warehouse on the old site funded by subscriptions. Work start date not set, aim to house next crop, estimated cost around 2000 dollars.

Inka Mississippi, on the first Monday in June 1909, a marshal will offer for sale in front of the courthouse door properties within the town of Tuks Mitowit for unpaid 1908 taxes and costs. The sale follows an order by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen in May 1909.
