Shawinigan Falls and the St Maurice Falls Life Pulse 1916

Autrey Mangum writes from Shawinigan Falls in 1916 describing a bilingual town in Quebec with a French majority, a population around 6,000, and a notable energy from the St Maurice and Shawinigan rivers. He notes English speakers are few beyond a small professional and business core, mentions diverse nationality groups, springtime weather contrasts with New Orleans, and highlights major local industry and power plants. He also reflects on U S politics, Wilson, and current events in Europe, awaiting news from Mexico and Germany.
