John M. Nelson of Iuka Mississippi, son of the late Bay Spring factory owner Jno Nelson, died in Jackson asylum last Monday night at about age 40 after a lifelong intellectual gift marred by mental illness. The body was brought home for burial beside his mother in Oak Grove Cemetery. Miss May and Grace Johnson of Birmingham were guests of Mrs. S J Smith last week.
From Maud Alabama a brief letter reports heavy rains and overflowing creeks with health good. North Iuka residents enjoyed a Missionary Valentine Party at the Hodges home on Pearl and Third streets. Guests brought pennies equal to their ages, raising about $7.35 for missionary Miss Mary Massey in Mexico. A heart shoot prize featured Kipling Poems, and valentines were mailed from a dedicated post office setup.
