Tennessee voters rallied last Thursday and nearly ousted a corrupt administration, delivering a stern rebuke to power and criminal elements. The landslide signals the end of a hated rule dating back to carpetbag days, with citizens rejoicing nationwide.
George Wendling, wanted for assaulting and killing Alma Kellner in Louisville last December, was arrested in San Francisco last Saturday after a months long, costly search led by Detective Carney. A key clue came from milliner Mrs Cora Muens of Flume Indiana who provided Wendling’s address. Wendling, found hiding behind a sink in a cheap lodging house, admitted his identity but denied the murder. Rewards totaling 5000 dollars accompany his capture, and he agreed to return to Louisville. Two years ago Dr Richardson of Sturgis Mississippi was shot dead by Dyche and Al Edwards after opposing a gang of lawless toughs. Dyche was sentenced to life, Al Edwards acquitted on transfer. Dyche escaped last week and remains at large, likely fleeing the region.
At a Corinth Mississippi meeting of the Democratic Congressional Executive Committee on August 6 1910 resolutions were adopted declaring E S Candler Jr the Democratic nominee for Congress in the First Congressional District of Mississippi and revoking a prior August primary order. J M Boone chaired the committee with C L Tubb as secretary.

The column also mentions community events church meetings and local visits amid miscellaneous notices and an endorsement for Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets as best for indigestion with sample free offers.
Martin Boyd of Henrietta Kentucky tells how granulated sore eyes plagued him for 20 years. In February 1903 a gentleman recommended Chamberlain's Salve, he bought a box, used about two thirds, and he reports his eyes have given no trouble since. The salve is sold by all dealers.

Mrs A Lomenick died at her son L T Lomenick's home two miles east of Inka on Friday morning August 5 1910 at about age 66. Born and married in East Tennessee near Chattanooga, she came here with her husband and children over twenty years ago. A pious Christian wife and mother she endured an incurable illness until death released her from suffering. She was laid to rest at Snowdown cemetery.
