Four-class Postmasters Named in Montana and River Country Killings
The Montana Gazette lists four fourth class postmasters appointed in Busby Saugus and Willard with the latter two offices newly created. In Powder River country a shooting at Moorhead leaves John O Daly dead and sparks inquest at Moorhead as sleigh travel limits access. Sheriff and coroner head the inquiry while George Thoet is named as the ranch witness. the Powder River deaths mark the fourth killing in the area since last summer with no link to the Selway Tarbell case.

Range conditions praised by Burt & Fluss in Ismay
C F Fluss of Burt and Fluss sheep firm in Ismay says the range is in good condition after last week’s storm. He notes dry snow being removed by plows and, while a chinook would help, current cold should not greatly injure sheep. He also expects the Northern Pacific cutoff to reach Ismay, bringing two rail lines.

NP Cutoff Decided To Follow Milwaukee Line
It is learned that the NP cutoff has been decided and will run parallel with the Milwaukee road from Marmarth through Ismay, connecting with the main line six miles east of Terry. Three surveying camps are at Mountline, Plevna and Mildred, and work on the new line will proceed quickly.
