ce O Wright announces plans to buy all local grain at Ismay. He will operate from the Midland Coal and Lumber Co office and pay the highest market prices.
W. W. D. Terrett comes home from Chicago and other eastern cities after days away handling business. He reports improved conditions in the east and a freer money market and says he will begin active campaigning across the county.
H S Grote died Monday at noon after heart distress. The 65 year old former Sparta Wisconsin resident lived seven miles south of Wibaux with his family. He was active in the M W A and district deputy at his death, funeral services held with the Woodmen of Wibaux, body shipped to Sparta Wisconsin. The community extends sympathy to the family.
Mr. O Donnell cites expert guidance on farming methods and soil care. He highlights ten commandments urging deep plowing loose surface soil adding organic matter fallow during dry years rotating crops and growing legumes and early maturing varieties.
Republicans of Custer County plan a countywide rally in Ismay on Saturday featuring speakers Hon Sharpless Walker Hon George W Kurt and A J Freeman candidate for the legislature. All county office candidates will attend and meet voters. Party officers say support is growing across the county with pledges from substantial residents.
Government forest servicemen near Red Lodge undertake the nation’s largest collection of lodgepole pine seed on Beartooth national forest. Cones are harvested from brush piles in a vast timbered area as part of an extensive seed program to replant and restore forests.
A force of 20 to 30 men has gathered cones since mid September, securing 2,000 bushels of cones and producing about 650 pounds of seed or 91,000,000 single seeds. An additional crew of 25 will join, work continuing to late November. Seed will be planted on Beartooth and other national forests next spring to help regrow timber lost in fires.
Republican county convention nominee Ben Levalley asks voters for support in Custer County. He promises to serve sheriff fairly and faithfully if elected.
A wreck on the Puget Sound line near Whitney involved a hog and produce train derailing Monday. Over 150 hogs died, others escaped and wandered, but no human lives were lost and train crews worked to recover remaining stock. The hogs were bound for the Chicago market.
