A large quarry of rattlesnakes was culled last Friday in Rat tlesnake gulch near Three Forks. About 290 to 390 snakes, some over three feet, were killed after a cave was found by Amos Smith and a posse of nearly a hundred men and boys fought the reptiles for hours.
Commissioners Furnish and Camer on toured the Mildred Ismay Plevna and Westmore region to plan new roads and gain rights of way for iron bridges over Sandstone Creek. They noted eight miles between Westmore and Plevna with thirty five farmhouses, strong fall plowing, flax yields from four to ten bushels per acre, and grain shipments totaling nine cars from Mildred with more to come.
A self styled promoter in Bowman advertised Virgin Texas in Montgomery County selling fifteen lots at five dollars each with a promised free passenger train trip to Texas by early October. Deeds exist for some buyers, but the promised excursion never occurred and buyers realize they were misled.

It will have 22 drive wheels, a 20000 gallon tank, 45 ton coal capacity, and require two firemen and one engineer. Completion is imminent, with readiness in a little more than a month.
