Guilty Verdict in Dietz Murder Case at Cameron Dam
The jury found John F. Deitz guilty of murder in the Oct. 8, 1910, pursuit at Cameron Dam Wis. Deputy Harp died. Mrs Deitz and Leslie were acquitted. Deitz sentenced to life imprisonment with annual solitary confinement on Oct 8. He motions for new trial but Judge Reid denies it after complaint to the lumber trust.

Lands Transferred in Miles City District Totaling 200000 Acres
The Miles City land office reports 121242.81 acres moved to private use in the quarter ending March 31 and 78275.36 acres in April totaling about 200000 acres for four months. The Northern Pacific Railway Co. also made selections totaling 108911.33 acres, reducing public domain in the district though these lands will ultimately reach settlers, per Yellowstone Journal.

Montana Herd Law Printout Governs Livestock Trespass
The Forsyth Journal reports on Montana herd law clauses from 1903 detailing trespass by stock on US land or state leased land, penalties of 25 to 500 dollars plus costs, and owner rights to seize trespassing animals with notice requirements within 24 hours. The act allows seizure of encroaching livestock from unfenced or fenced plots with defined boundaries and posted notices.
