A Lingering Death in County Reorganization Debate
The Miles City Star reports a stalled county division effort that lingered with the county commissioners for two weeks. The piece notes a public spectacle around the process and the lack of a final bier passing before the decision. The article cites petition data showing 744 electors in a district of 1,011 and a total valuation of $6,040,053, but excluding Fallon Wibaux and Powder River leaves $3,493,861, short of the $1,000,000 valuation needed to form a new county.
