Montana farmer prefers home state after Canada trip

Frank Riley returns from Winnipeg where a threshing crew harvested 32 bushels per acre with heavy straw and widespread thistles. He notes high weed pressure, summer fallow, and many farms for sale at 20 to 25 dollars per acre, while Alaska, Montana and Wyoming weather influence cattle and grain decisions. A. S. Smith recalls 1886 87 cattle losses and severe cold, but current mild weather suggests no repeat. Albert Henderson feeds frozen potatoes to hogs and plans a large cooker to process crop losses.

Sunday morning November 19 a wedding united Mr William Lewis and Miss Blanche Mitchell at the bride’s parents home in Whitney Creek Cast e County Montana. Rev Williams performed the ceremony. The bride wore pink tara n trimmed with Irish point lace. The groom wore black and is known as a violinist and orchestra leader. Guests offered congratulations and enjoyed a generous dinner before departing with fond memories of the Mitchells.

Carp flood drains Mud lake and swamps Bear River

Heber Q. Hale reports hundreds of tons of carp rolling down Bear river from Mud lake toward Great Salt Lake after the Telluride Power company drained Mud lake to straighten the river. The carp, a low grade fish, thrived in Mud lake’s mud bottom before the drainage.’

Game Birds Plentiful in Grand Rapids Minnesota

Game Ward en Jesse Harry reports ducks partridges and deer are plentiful this fall. Ducks are more plentiful and partridges are in great numbers. On lesser roads travelers may see five or six deer per day. Also a notice about winter pasture rental with segregation under barbed wire fences.
