A local club accuses opponents of misrepresenting signatures to push County Division plans. The statement alleges Baker and Esmay conspired and claims signature gathering involved deceit. The group pledges to oppose what it calls underhanded schemes and demand a fair process.
Ismay residents approved funding for adding to the Schoollitouse building and electing B. W Moore as two year trustee and David Bickle as three year trustee. The measure aims to prevent school dropouts by expanding local high school capacity and enabling more students to continue their studies locally.
Attendance was strong last week as students enjoy baseball led by coach Mr Caswell. Goldfish were added to the primary room. Clara Spear won the fourth grade spelling match by spelling down the room. Seven weeks remain in the term with Arbor Day on Tuesday May ninth and a morning program planned.
Church notes urge building a $3.00 addition to the schoolhouse and hiring another teacher to train children ages 6 to 14. Rev. Joseph Pope plans a ten day campaign in three weeks to boost church and Sunday school life as Ismay seeks greater spiritual influence. Minister J H Johnson invites all to attend next Sunday, stressing sacrifice and devotion.
L W Shotwell has shipped in a Fairbanks Morris gas engine for use on his Whitney Creek farm. He bought a half section and plans to farm the entire tract, a type of settler the community welcomes.
A Lacombe resident denounces Baker for alleged county seat favoritism as Burt county forms amid shifting loyalties among Ismay Mildred Fallon Terry Knowlton and Westmore. Lacombe asks for explanation or apology or risk of trouble.
The Ekalaka Eagle laments rising thefts of homesteader cabins when owners are away in Isinas and nearby areas. It urges sheriffs to issue search warrants to catch burglars, noting few excuses would save culprits at the bar of justice and promising a Deer Lodge trip for effective action.
Gov Norris appointed J. FE Prindle a delegate for the Northwestern Development league gathering in Helena on May 4-5. The meeting aims to discuss publicity plans for state development, and Prindle’s long residence and observations are seen as valuable contributions.
