Buffalo Herd on Flathead Reservation May Survive
Major Bellew reports the Allard herd on the Flathead reservation in Montana dwindles to about 300 buffalo with 100 more possible to round up this year. He notes the remaining animals, though hard to manage, could thrive if range is preserved and fenced. A national society may push for a government protected buffalo range on the Flathead.

Sixth Montana State Fair Sets High Expectations in 1908
The Montana State Fair of 1908 opens September 18 and runs through October 3 with the state railways offering a one fare round trip and a half rate on exhibits. Officials note no state funds go to racing or attractions, premiums totaling 7500 dollars in 1907 benefiting Montana farmers and producers. The fair boosts infant industries like poultry and dairying and aims to keep its focus close to farmers, with exhibitor entries rising from 1600 in 1903 to over 4800 in 1907 and premiums increasing from under 3000 to 38000.
