Edible Park May Move Operations to Great Park
Irvine officials and Second Harvest Food Bank discuss relocating most of the Incredible Edible Park to the Orange County Great Park. The Harvard Avenue site would host citrus trees only, while a five acre Great Park site was originally proposed. Nicole Suydam notes plans have not progressed.

Second Harvest reports annual harvests of 100000 pounds at the Incredible Edible Park over five years on 7.5 acres. About 340 nonprofit groups receive park produce distributions, reaching about 480 locations in Orange County. The network relies on 10000 volunteers and feeds people monthly. Last fiscal year 6.84 million pounds of fresh produce arrived, 33.8 percent of all food received. California Association of Food Banks provided 3.49 million pounds, OC Produce donated 454375 pounds, Grocery Rescue contributed 844432 pounds, with the rest from other donations.

FivePoint plan defend at Irvine Planning Commission

Irvine trade mission sails to Taoyuan and Seocho gu
Irvine city staff and business leaders depart for a nine day trade mission to sister cities Taoyuan Taiwan and Seocho gu South Korea. The Sept 10 council vote elevated Seocho gu to sister city status linking the new relations with Nowon gu in Seoul. Delegates will meet Taoyuan mayor sign the agreement visit Taipei 101 and the National Palace Museum, with the Irvine Co and Five Point Communities sending representatives.
