I forme FivePoint Communities wins City Council approval after a lengthy meeting to develop more than half of the Orange County Great Park. Irvine secures another 10 million on top of about 200 million in construction and cash previously offered. The plan includes 4,606 homes outside the park’s eastern edge and a large commercial area.
The city will assume operations and maintenance of Great Park. FivePoint will pay the city 10 million dollars between 2016 and 2023 to cover costs. An extra 10 million covers entrance improvements on Marine Way, atop funds FivePoint already commits to road repairs. The city gains flexibility to use 10 million as needed to augment features within a 15.5 million design-change pledge. FivePoint had previously earmarked funds for specific development areas.
