Lalloway weighs deal on Orange County Great Park vote
Irvine mayor pro tem Jeff Lalloway remains skeptical about a plan by Five Point Communities to build and operate much of the Orange County Great Park. He supported delaying a decision to seek staff answers while noting city control should continue beyond 2023. The vote may hinge on this issue as the council meets Tuesday at the Irvine Civic Center.

FivePoint proposes to spend 172 million to build 688 acres of a 1227 acre park, 2 million to make non developing areas park-like, 2 million to study Cultural Terrace possible amenities, 3 million for utility fees, 15.5 million for design changes, 10 million to operate the 688 acres through 2023, and at least 60 million for 40 proposed acres to Irvine Unified School District. FivePoint would receive 40 million reimbursement from the community facilities district. Planned build includes 176 acres of sports fields for 109.4 million, 40 acres for Bosque at 16.7 million, 36 acres for Upper Bee Canyon at 4.9 million, an 18-hole golf course and agricultural fields totaling 259 acres for 26 million, and a wildlife corridor of 178 acres for 15 million. Differences from 2007 master plan include an 18-hole golf course, more sports fields, no 60-foot canyon, and no fixed veterans memorial site.
