UC Irvine Honors Student Veterans At Annual Dinner
UC Irvine honored four student veterans at the third Annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner hosted by the Veteran Services Office. The event featured color guard, a POW/MIA ceremony, performances, and a keynote by Peter James Gravett, California's veterans affairs secretary. The office notes the student veteran population has tripled, with about 180 veterans aided under the Post 9/11 GI Bill and benefits like priority registration and housing. New scholarships and medallions were awarded to graduates, and leaders Alexander Louie and Jack Williams received Student of the Year honors for their service and involvement with Alpha Psi Omega.
