The Irvine Museum celebrates two decades highlighting California Impressionist art from 1890 to 1930. An exhibit titled Lasting Impressions runs through June 6, showcasing its most popular works and the museum’s role near John Wayne Airport in Irvine.
The executive director Jean Stern champions California's rich art heritage in a statement urging public appreciation of regional painters. The museum spotlights artists including Franz Bischoff George Brandriff Alson Clark Frank Cuprien Paul de Longpré and Joseph Kleitsch as part of a broader arts page feature.
The Irvine Museum offers general admission at 5 dollars with free entry for children students and seniors aged 60 and older. The museum at 18881 Von Karman Ave Suite 100 is open 11 am to 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday and validates parking. Free admission applies on the second Wednesday each month. Keith Lawrence 27 and Monica Quan 28, engaged college sweethearts and Concordia University Irvine alums, were found fatally shot in a Kia on the open-air top level of Avenue One parking garage in Irvine Sunday night. Lawrence, a USC patrol officer, and Quan, an assistant basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton, had recently moved in. Irvine police say the killings appear not to be a murder-suicide or robbery gone bad and no gun was found on Lawrence. Friends described them as kind, accomplished people with strong community ties. Detectives investigating the shooting death of engaged Irvine couple Keith Lawrence and Monica Quan reported no motive and no suspects as of Wednesday morning. Police urged anyone with information to call 949 724 7192 regarding the double homicide near the Jambooree Road condo parking structure.
