Gavin Herbert Eye Institute aims to end blindness by 2020
Orange County's first university based eye institute at UCI edges toward debut within a year. Donors from individuals to corporations pledge to a $37 million campaign. The center will unite research labs clinics and patient spaces under one roof and pursue retina cornea glaucoma macular degeneration and stem cell studies with private funding fueling expansion.
