Water System Contract for Court House Let to Michel and Shell

A contract was awarded Saturday for furnishing the water supply for the new court house. F W Michel and F F Shell received a bid of 616 to build two cisterns and a tank, with the county also paying 200 for the pumping engine. Plans include two cisterns on the west side and a double tank in the tower to provide soft water for heating and toilets and hard water for drinking. The pump will be installed in the engine room.

Morphy and His Band at Viethos Opera House

Jack Carmody, shot and killed by a Sioux City policeman Saturday night, was well known around Maurice, having worked there for several years. Those who knew him describe him as a good fellow, except when drinking, when he could be quarrelsome. He had little wealth and faced danger from vehicles due to his poverty.
